Great
Yarmouth has lots to offer visitors of all ages, both indoor
and outdoors. Joyland and the Marina Centre with an Adventure
Play Area and indoor swimming pool are ever popular with tots,
whilst teenagers always enjoy the amusement arcades, BMX &
SK8 Park, Go-Karting, Multi-screen cinema and Disco at the
Ocean Rooms.
There
are automated prize Bingo games in some of the amusement arcades
and Mecca & Palace Bingo Clubs in the town centre. Britannia
Pier theatre puts on a wide variety of shows
during the season, some with stars of television. The Pavilion
theatre has a variety of shows & plays throughout
the year. The Hippodrome hosts
many musical and entertainment events each month as well as the wonderful circus. For

The whole
family can enjoy the miles of wide, golden sandy beaches. There are crazy golf
courses along the seafront just waiting for family challenges.
The Pleasure Beach, whilst being a major attractions for teenagers,

Sports
For those with sporting interests there are Horse Racing,
Greyhound Racing, Stock Car & Banger Racing, golf courses,
18 hole pitch & putt course, indoor & outdoor bowls,
ten-pin bowling, sea angling, fresh water fishing, and The
Marina Leisure and Sports Centre which provides an indoor
tropical pool with waves and a slide, family activity area,
squash courts, multi-sports hall and indoor bowls hall.

Bowling
and Golf
There is an annual festival of bowls held in August/September
each year at Great Yarmouth on the outdoor rinks.

History
Great Yarmouth's long heritage provides year round interests.
Maritime Museums include the Time & Tide and the Nelson
Museum, the Smokehouse and Potteries pay tribute to the Herring
trade and the long history of the town. The Tolhouse museum
is a former gaol and courthouse. In the world famous Rows are
a Medieval Merchamt's House and an Elizabethan House. There
are organised Heritage Walks throughout the summer but visitors
can easily make there own way around with the attractions being
well signposted. The whole area is fairly flat which makes for
easy walking. |
A
highlight in our heritage year is the Maritime Festival held
each September. (2012 dates are September 8th & 9th).
A
weekend of merriment & sea shanties, traditional food
& drink, ships to see & walk round, and lots of nautical
displays and exhibitions.

Nature
Nature lovers are well catered for with the Sea Life Centre
on the sea front, boat trips from the beach to view the seals
on Scroby Sands (along with one of Europe's largest offshore
windfarm) and several wildlife parks. Nature reserves abound
in the area some equipped with hides for observing the birds
and wildlife.

The
Norfolk Broads
The beautiful, world famous Norfolk Broads are right on our
doorstep with all the enjoyments of boating and fishing activities.
Why not take a leisurely day trip on a Paddle Steamer ? An
ideal way to see some of the area.
Surrounding
Area
Further afield are many attractions within easy reach of Great
Yarmouth. There are gardens, Sutton Windmill, Broads museums,
steam railways much more. Only 25 miles from Norwich with
it's Norman Keep and Castle shopping mall, and the Norwich
Cathedral (reputedly the 7th most visited in England). Norwich
has an excellent Park & Ride system so you can relax on
your visit and let the bus take you into the heart of the
shops and centre of local history.

Some of the best shopping in the area is right here in town
with many of the big names such as M & S, Body Shop, River
Island, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams and BHS dotted around the
centre. There are, of course, numerous shops selling seaside
items, ornaments, souvenirs, nail & beauty salons, tattoo
artists and music stores. On Regent Road, the main shopping
area, visitors can watch lettered rock being made at the famous
DOCWRA'S ROCK FACTORY. There is a market twice weekly throughout
the year and three each week from May to October

Great Food
Close to everyone's
heart is what & where to eat. After strenuous exercise
on the beach, round the shops or in the arcades, a good meal
is never too far away. Great Yarmouth has many restaurants
and cafes offering meals for all tastes & budgets.
Nightlife
Of course, Great Yarmouth has a fantastic nightlife with family
and adult shows, a circus, several theatres, a multi-screen
cinema, casinos and a wealth of nightclubs and pubs offering
nightly entertainment and dancing. Crowned the "East
Coast's Entertainment Capital", Great Yarmouth has something
for everyone.
